Great start to our school year!

We have been working together to create a peaceful environment.
We have been practicing our routine, safety rules, and procedures.
We have been practicing our grace and courtesy, inviting friends to play while sharing, and taking turns.
I am conducting informal assessment. The information will help me plan activities for each student based on his/her individual needs and development.
I noticed some students forgot how to use materials. Understandable after a long break. We will spend some time revisiting the materials and re-presenting lessons in order to help students become comfortable and confident in their abilities. The more materials they are able to use, the more options they will have when it comes to making activity choices.

Some of our class discussions included:
· How we treat our friends and class materials with respect and care
· What peaceful looks/feels like
· What does “safety first” means in our classroom
· Healthy habits, and the importance of listening to body signals when we feel tired, hungry, frustrated or when we need to use the toilet.

Reminder:
“Show and share” time begins Monday! Please make sure that your child brings only 1 item. It must be small enough to fit in the cubby (along with bedding bag, backpack, lunchbox etc.) Please take a few minutes to discuss with your child the reason why they are bringing that particular item to school. It is an opportunity for our students to communicate, express feelings, develop and expand vocabulary. There are many learning opportunities during show and share time. However (often times) our students just show their item and are unable to say much about it. Discussing at home will help children gain more confidence.
Thank you for your support!
As always, please, I am here to answer any questions you may have.
Have a wonderful weekend!
