Pumpkins and more pumpkins...

Our week in a nutshell…
We continue to learn fun facts about pumpkins and the pumpkin life cycle
We had opportunities to conduct a pumpkin experiment activity. We made predictions measured, compared sizes, counted lines and determined if pumpkins sink/float. We also tasted roasted pumpkin seeds.
We were able to go on a virtual field trip to see how pumpkins grow (time lapse video/life cycle of a pumpkin).
We made pumpkin still life paintings
We are learning/reviewing about the globe, land/air/water. We discussed different vehicles (land/air/water). We went on a virtual field trip to see a spaceship with real astronauts. We were able to see what our Planet Earth looks from outer space. We are learning vocabulary words including rotation, axis, atmosphere and gravity.
We used the globe and sun model to demonstrate Earth revolution/orbit around the sun (12 months in a year). 1 revolution equals 1 year (1 birthday).
We are practicing games and songs during circle time to review colors in Spanish. We are learning the months of the year and days of the week in Spanish
We continue to practice grace and courtesy every day
We continue to work on our goals (one-on-one lessons). We are encouraged to practice previously learned concepts to help master skills. We also have opportunities to practice focus/concentration that will help us in future learning.
We continue to make independent activity choices and work/play cooperatively with our friends
We are here to support all of our students and help them along the way. We encourage them to explore, problem-solve and always do their "best work". We are also learning/practicing taking responsibility for our actions. We always tell the truth and acknowledge if we make a mistake. There are no punishments or time-outs. We remind each other that it's OK to make mistakes, (mistakes are part of learning).

Watching the time-lapse 2 minute video from seed to pumpkin. They were fascinated!
They learned how time-lapse video works and how it takes a VERY long time (180 days) for the entire process from seed to pumpkin. They may not fully understand but they do know plants take longer than two minutes to grow :0)

Have a wonderful weekend!
